A Minute at a Brewery

Last weekend after a hike in the great outdoors, I met up with a friend at a local brewery in Manhattan. We ended up being the last two people under the umbrellas, chatting with the waiter while he locked up.

The week before I had been at the brewery to test it out, and that’s where the painting above came from.

The day I tried out the brewery -right after a haircut- was a nice toasty June day, similar to the one pictured here in the photo below.

I’ll show and tell you more about the above adventure, but in another post. Wink-wink.

Back to the week before.

I decided to do my painting and drinking and basking all in one go, as the only spot left in the street seating was in the blazing sun.

What I loved about the scene was the sun shining through the flags and the beer, making them glow and the beer shine like stained glass windows. I also loved the fact that we were all sitting outside like people in Europe.

The fact that it was rather warm made my hefeweizen doubly cool and crisp, and, yes, refreshing.

The end product here does need some refining, but I’m happy with it on the whole, and am looking forward to trying to do it another (cooler) time!

In the minute that I sat down to capture this scene, while sipping my beer, turned that ‘minute’ into a transporting experience of a leisurely hour at a Biergarten in Germany.

Cheers to a good week! Thanks so much for reading and looking!

And before you leave, I’d love it if you would check out the notebook in which I do all these paintings.

That’d be grand, because when you click the link below, I may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.
